Kontron to include Intel 7th Generation Intel Core processor family in its latest embedded products

Embedded specialist to launch numerous new motherboards and modules featuring powerful Intel® Kaby Lake technology in early 2017

Augsburg, Germany, January 26, 2017 – Kontron, a leading global provider of Embedded Computing Technology (ECT), today announced that it will implement the latest 7th generation Intel® Core(TM) processor family (code-name Kaby Lake) in a whole array of Kontron boards and modules to be released in early 2017.

Products featuring Intel® 7th generation Intel Core processor technology will include two models of Kontron’s COM Express® Computer-on-Modules (COM) in the standard form factors COMe basic and COMe compact, named Kontron COMe-bKL6 and COMe-cKL6, respectively. Furthermore Kontron will extend its comprehensive motherboard portfolio by adding three new platforms based on Kaby Lake, two Mini-ITX, the Kontron mITX-KBL-H and the Kontron mITX-KBL-S and one Flex-ATX, the Kontron FlexATX-KBL-S.

With these new boards and modules, Kontron’s customers can make use of the significant feature and performance increases inherent in Intel 7th generation Intel Core processors. In addition to faster graphics and processing performance, developers also benefit from the integration of Kontron’s standard hardware-based embedded Security Solution Approtect. Kontron is the first embedded computing supplier to offer full security protection embedded in its COM and motherboard offerings per default.

“At Kontron we take pride in designing and manufacturing the most rugged and capable embedded hardware and software solutions suitable for harsh industrial environments”, says Peter Müller, Head of Portfolio Management Standard Products at Kontron. “Therefore we are delighted to offer our customers our newest embedded boards and modules integrated with Intel’s latest 7th generation Intel Core Processor.”
