Saipem: setting up of the Saipem European Works Council is agreed

-

In compliance with European regulations, Saipem SpA, and a delegation of representatives of Saipem workers in the countries of the European Economic Area in which the Company is present, have agreed to set up the European Works Council (EWC) of the Saipem Group.

The agreement, which was signed on July 17, 2017, and which brings into force a series of by-laws to regulate EWC activities, has as its main objective the implementation of relations between the Company and trade union representatives at European level.

The EWC was devised as a tool with which workers could participate in the management of companies and as a means through which the latter would observe their social responsibility. It will operate by way of an information and consultation process covering themes related to the cultivation of a health, safety and sustainability culture.

The process of selecting and electing the representatives of Saipem’s subsidiaries in Europe is currently underway. Elected representatives will hold office for three years.

The first meeting of the Saipem Group EWC is planned for the forthcoming autumn.
