Best Fund Manager Awards go to the individual fund manager generating the highest risk-adjusted returns in a particular sector over the past three years to 31 December 2016.
These are based on the individual track records for all funds they have run in the sector over this period. In order to qualify, fund managers must have offerings registered for sale in a total of three European countries.

Absolute Return and Alternative Ucits
As with the broader Best Fund Manager Awards, the Absolute Return and Alternative Ucits winners will be individual fund manager generating the highest risk-adjusted returns in a particular sector over the past three years to 31 December 2016.
These are based on the individual track records for all funds they have run in the sector over this period. In order to qualify, fund managers must have offerings registered for sale in a total of three European countries, and hold an Alternative Ucits or absolute return rating.
An Alternative Ucits or Absolute Return rating requires fund managers to have achieved the following across their global offering in the Alternative Ucits and Absolute Return asset classes:
– Cash + 2% returns over three years
– Controlled losses (maximum drawdown – their highest loss from peak to trough – can’t be 50% higher than peer group average);
Our ratings methodologies are actuarially approved by AKG Actuaries & Consultants.

Group Awards
The starting point is Citywire’s Global Group Ratings. Groups are awarded a Citywire Group Rating on a sector by sector basis. Only those sectors where a group’s offering is registered for sale in three or more European countries are included.
We then assign groups four points for a Platinum Rating, three for a Gold, two for Silver and one for a Bronze. Those groups that are eligible in 5-9 sectors are classed as Small; 10-19 Medium; and, 20 or more are deemed Large. The group with the highest number of points per eligible sector in each category is the winner.
