VIVACE: second mission to Russia this year in order to better understand recent developments in the country’s oil and gas sector
VIVACE had the pleasure to complete a second mission to Russia this year in order to better understand recent developments in the country’s oil and gas sector, including participation in the Neftegaz exhibition at the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Center in Moscow.
Despite geopolitical complexity and structural change in global energy markets, one observation stands out clearly: the sector remains highly dynamic, with continued investment in operational innovation and sustainability, particularly in Russia.
Across several discussions with industry stakeholders and exchanges during the exhibition, we observed a growing focus on initiatives that aim to reconcile extractive activities with environmental stewardship and long-term regional development.
In many cases, these efforts are being framed not simply as compliance exercises, but as strategic programs designed to create shared value between companies, local communities and ecosystems.
Examples of good practices include:
• investment in biodiversity protection and land restoration programs in areas surrounding extraction sites;
• expansion of carbon management and offset initiatives, including reforestation and ecosystem restoration projects;
• integration of renewable energy sources and energy-efficiency technologies to reduce the operational footprint of large industrial facilities; and
• community development programs that support local infrastructure, education and supply chains in resource-producing regions.
These approaches reflect a broader shift underway across the extractive industries: the recognition that corporate social responsibility and environmental stewardship are becoming integral to long-term competitiveness and social legitimacy in resource development.
For VIVACE, these missions remain essential. They allow us to observe emerging practices on the ground, identify scalable sustainability models and deepen our understanding of how traditional industries can contribute to the transition toward more resilient economic systems.
The energy transition is not linear, but the search for more sustainable operating models in the energy industry is gaining real momentum.
We look forward to continuing the dialogue with partners and industry leaders on how these initiatives can evolve into the next generation of responsible energy strategies, building bridges in Europe and beyond.
