Inflazione UE, se dati non migliorano probabile ampliamento programma acquisti BCE

I dati di questa mattina rivelano che l’inflazione nell’Eurozona è scesa ulteriormente sotto lo zero, attestandosi ora al -0,3%. Il tasso di base ha raggiunto il minimo storico dello 0,2%.

Ciò rappresenta una sfida per la BCE che cerca di raggiungere il suo obiettivo del 2%. Inoltre, rende ancora più probabile l’eventualità che l’Istituto di Francoforte adatti il suo mandato introducendo un obiettivo simmetrico intorno al 2%. Non è chiaro se ciò sarà sufficiente a evitare il rischio di deflazione.

Se i dati non migliorano, la presidente Lagarde dovrebbe annunciare un’espansione del programma di acquisto di obbligazioni entro la fine dell’anno.
