Produzione industriale gennaio 2024: nei 20 Paesi dell’Eurozona è mediamente diminuita del 3,2% su dicembre

In calo del 6,7% rispetto a gennaio 2023

Nel gennaio 2024, rispetto a dicembre 2023, la produzione industriale destagionalizzata è diminuita del 3,2% nell’area dell’euro e del 2,1% nell’UE, secondo le prime stime di Eurostat, l’ufficio statistico dell’Unione europea. Nel dicembre 2023, la produzione industriale era cresciuta dell’1,6% sia nella zona euro, sia nell’UE.

Nel gennaio 2024, rispetto a gennaio 2023, la produzione industriale è diminuita del 6,7% nell’area dell’euro e del 5,7% nell’UE.

L’economia globale, a inizio 2024, resta penalizzata da una elevata incertezza sull’evoluzione delle tensioni geo-politiche e si caratterizza per prospettive di crescita moderate. Lo scorso anno, l’Italia ha registrato un incremento annuo del Pil dello 0,9%, in decelerazione rispetto al 2022, ma superiore a quello della media dell’area euro (+0,4%).

Nel quarto trimestre del 2023, il valore aggiunto dell’industria in senso stretto ha mostrato una sostanziale stazionarietà. Il settore dei servizi si è stabilizzato, l’agricoltura ha registrato una contenuta flessione, mentre il comparto delle costruzioni ha continuato a crescere in misura rilevante (+4,7%).

I segnali provenienti dalle indagini sul clima di fiducia sono discordanti. A febbraio 2024, la fiducia è peggiorata per le imprese mentre quella dei consumatori ha continuato a crescere, raggiungendo il livello più elevato da giugno 2023.

Focus: tra i principali paesi europei, negli ultimi anni, l’Italia ha registrato la crescita del settore delle costruzioni più elevata. Quest’ultimo ha mostrato un maggior dinamismo anche in confronto agli altri comparti dell’economia italiana, fornendo impulsi positivi all’occupazione e agli investimenti.

In the euro area in January 2024, compared with December 2023, industrial production

  • increased by 2.6% for intermediate goods,

  • increased by 0.5% for energy,

  • decreased by 14.5% for capital goods,

  • decreased by 1.2% for durable consumer goods,

  • decreased by 0.3% for non-durable consumer goods.

In the EU, industrial production

  • increased by 2.9% for intermediate goods,

  • increased by 0.6% for energy,

  • decreased by 12.8% for capital goods,

  • decreased by 0.1% for durable consumer goods,

  • decreased by 0.5% for non-durable consumer goods.

Among Member States for which data are available, the largest monthly decreases were recorded in Ireland (-29.0%), Malta (-9.4%) and Estonia (-6.6%). The highest increases were observed in Poland (+13.3%), Slovenia (+10.6%) and Lithuania (+7.2%).

In the euro area in January 2024, compared with January 2023, industrial production

  • decreased by 2.5% for intermediate goods,

  • increased by 0.3% for energy,

  • decreased by 12.1% for capital goods,

  • decreased by 8.4% for durable consumer goods,

  • decreased by 3.1% for non-durable consumer goods.

In the EU, industrial production

  • decreased by 3.3% for intermediate goods,

  • increased by 0.6% for energy,

  • decreased by 10.1% for capital goods,

  • decreased by 8.1% for durable consumer goods,

  • decreased by 1.3% for non-durable consumer goods.

Among Member States for which data are available, the largest annual decreases were recorded in Ireland (-34.1%), Estonia (-8.6%) and Bulgaria (-7.6%). The highest increases were observed in Slovenia (+12.2%), Greece (+10.5%) and Denmark (+5.3%).
